The CANgaroo Clash!

The “CANgaroo Clash” is a five game exhibition series between the Canadian Men’s National Team and Australia Men’s National ‘A’ Team.  The event is hosted by the West Vancouver Field Hockey Club and supported by Field Hockey Canada through the generous financial contribution of Own the Podium and Sport Canada. This competition is the final stage of Team Canada’s preparation for the Pan American Games to be held in Guadalajara, Mexico beginning October 14.  

 

The event also includes the Official Opening of Rutledge Field and commemoration of Ross Rutledge.  

 

"We look forward to welcoming the entire field hockey community down to Rutledge Field in September," says tournament organizer Steven Davis.  "Ross was an incredible role-model to so many of us growing up, and this is a very special way for the club and the community to celebrate his incredible contribution to the sport.  Having the Aussies here to celebrate with us is going to be particularly special, as Roscoe played for a couple of professional seasons down in Perth in 92′ / 93′, and had a special hockey connection with many of the best players and coaches down there.  We look forward to putting on a great event both for the club, the community, our countless donors and volunteers within the club, and of course for Roscoe."

– Sessions will be broken down according to age-categories and coached by current and former Canadian National Team athletes.
