Field Hockey Canada would like to congratulate Canadian International Umpire Wendy Stewart on her recent promotion to the FIH Umpiring World Panel!  The Panel represents the top echelon of hockey umpires throughout the world.  Wendy is currently the only Canadian umpire in this elite group of ten women.

“To be promoted to this panel is a wonderful achievement,” says Paula Parks, co-chair of the FHC Officials Committee. “After all of her hard work over many years, it is well deserved… a really great accomplishment!”

Stewart was an umpire at the recent Pan American Games in Guadalajara – where she called the historic gold-medal match between Argentina and Team USA.  Wendy has already been selected to umpire at the upcoming FIH 2012 Champions Trophy in Argentina (January 28 – February 5) and at the 2012 Olympic Games in London (July 27 – August 12) (Click here to view 2012 FIH Appointments)
