OTTAWA – The Canadian women’s national field hockey team look to have a busy 2011 according to a preliminary event calendar released today by Field Hockey Canada.
The Canadians will kick off the new year with a 4-Match Test Series versus the United States mid January in California.
In May 8 – 14 the team will be in Vienna, Austria to compete in the Champions Challenge II. The CCII tour will be preceded by a selection camp in British Columbia.
June and July will have the athletes participate in the 2011 Super League and Senior National Championships in Vancouver and Victoria respectively. The National Squad will then host a planned 4-Nation Tournament in Late July or August in British Columbia.
In October the team will travel to Guadalajara, Mexico to participate in the Pan American Games. The event serves as a direct qualifier for the 2012 Olympic Games in London, England.
The squad will then close out 2011 with a carding camp in November.
All dates and events are subject to change. Alterations and additions to the schedule will be communicated as they become known.
