The Canadian Women’s National Team will open their 2014 campaign with a 4-match test series against the USA in their brand new covered Spooky Nook facility in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
After an exciting year 2013 and the Commonwealth Gamesin Glasgow on the horizon, it will the first opportunity for the Canadian players and staff to assess the on-field and off-field progress after a heavy training schedule that started before Christmas. All 32 players in the squad trained extremely hard and Coach Ian Rutledge admitted that it was tough to trim down the squad to 19 players for the series.
The USA team will be well primed, as they have recently completed a 3-Nation series against Great Britain and New Zealand, and are preparing for the upcoming Champions Challenge in Scotland, and of course the World Cup in June in the Netherlands.
Canada and USA last met in the semi-final of the 2013 Pan American Cup in Mendoza. USA prevailed 4-0 after a scoreless first half.
