Balraj Panesar was introduced to the sport of field hockey by his father. His brother, Sukhpal, is a National Team alumni with 164 caps and retired in 2023.

In 2014, Balraj made his senior debut in New Zealand. He was also a part of the Junior Men’s National Team that competed in Hockey 5’s at the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China. Panesar and his teammates captured the silver medal. Since then, Balraj has competed in several major games including the Pan American Games, Commonwealth Games and Hockey World Cup.

Balraj also played competitive ice hockey before focusing solely focus on field hockey. He plays his club hockey for United Brothers.
