Starting at the 2009 Annual General Meeting, the Field Hockey Canada (FHC)  Board of Directors and Senior leadership decided to take full stock of the current status of Field Hockey in Canada- and more importantly what was possible to achieve for 2016 and beyond.  Over this past year, an incredible amount of work has gone into building a strategy for 2016 and beyond.  One of the key phrases heard multiple times was: “The game of field hockey has changed;  we need to understand what this means for our players,  clubs, development, and National Programs  in order to develop Field Hockey in Canada…

Canada-India Cup schedule changed

Canada-India Cup schedule changed

Due to the late arrival of the National Women’s Indian Team to British Columbia the organizers of the 2010 Canada-India Cup have announced a change to the match schedule. 

The games previously scheduled on June 12th and 13th at the University of British Columbia have been cancelled.  Games planned for June 15th, 17th, and 19th in Surrey will remain as scheduled.

A fourth and final game will then be played at UBC on Sunday, June 20th at 4:00pm…

As yet another summer begins, Field Hockey Nova Scotia invites you to put forward your team for the 26th Annual Atlantic Cup!  This year, the tournament will take place on July 31st-August 1st at the St Mary’s University field in the beautiful city of Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The Atlantic Cup is an annual ‘festival’ tournament organized by Field Hockey Nova Scotia and is held every year at the end of July or early August. The primary goal of this event is fun! We normally have a senior and junior division with teams from New Brunswick, Price Edward Island, and Ontario…

It’s a wrap…

Thanks to everyone from coast to coast who have provided the delicious filling for my submissions over the past few months. Athletes, coaches, and support staff have been nothing short of fantastic.

I’ve learned that Field Hockey Canada is special. I feel privileged to have been welcomed into the Canadian Field Hockey family circle albeit for a brief period of time.

Ali named University Games Chef de Mission

Beth Ali appointed Chef de Mission of University Games

Former assistant coach to the Canadian women’s national team, Beth Ali, has been appointed as Canada’s Chef de Mission for the 2011 Winter World University Games in Erzurum, Turkey.

Beth has been involved with field hockey for many years serving as Executive Director of Field Hockey Ontario, President of the CIS Field Hockey Coaches Association, and a Field Hockey Canada Board Member.

She is currently Associate Director of Athletics and Recreation at Ryerson University…

California Cup begins today in LA

Cal Cup begins today in Los Angeles

The California Cup, also known admiringly as The Cal Cup, begins today at Moorpark College outside Los Angeles and features several competing Canadian teams.  The Cal Cup promotes itself as North America’s best field hockey tournament and will run until May 31st.

If you happen to be in the area come out to cheer on the Canadian teams!

FHC announces Women’s Carding Camp

The Women’s Senior National Team will be holding its annual carding camp in Vancouver from November 9th to 14th, 2010.  Invitations along with camp objectives and details will be e-mailed to selected athletes in early September.  Additional Invitations will be extended to deserving players after the CIS Championship Tournament.
