Canadian women squeeze by Chile 1-0

Canada won the second game of their series against the Chilean women by a slim margin of one goal. They now lead the series against the South Americans with two victories.
The match started fairly equal for a while. Canada had to concede a penalty-stroke on a Chilean circle penetration, but the shot was weak and easily handled by Azelia LIU in the Canadian goal. She was again called into action soon after on a high shot.
The rest of the period was mostly a midfield battle, both teams offering an excellent display of passes but without generating much danger at either end…

The Canadian men cleanly beat Chile 4-2 in the second game of their 5-match series against the South Americans.
The game started as an intense midfield battle. Canada circulated the ball well but could not get a clear hold on the proceedings. Canada won handsomely the first game of their series against the Chilean women 3-0, which was designated as their Annual Game for the CURE.
Canada were prompt to jump off the starting blocks and were all over their opponents in the initial minutes. They were rewarded by an early goal by Thea CULLEY diving to deflect in goal a hard free hit into the circle. The Canadian men opened their 5-game series against Chile with a hard-fought win on UBC Wright Field in Vancouver. It was their first game since the World Cup in March and the group was completely different after the international retirements of Paul WETTLAUFER, Wayne FERNANDES, Scott SANDISON and Connor GRIMES, and the unavailability of Ranjeev DEOL and Gabbar SINGH. The Series between the men’s and women’s teams of Canada and Chile opened on Saturday, on a perfect sunny afternoon, at UBC Wright Field in Vancouver, with a good performance of the Canadian Women’s Development Team which managed to tie with Chile 1-1.

Omar Schlingemann Guest Expert Coach At FHC Junior Men’s Camp

Omar Schlingemann, previous assistant to Roelant Oltmans at Laren Club will be the expert coach for the upcoming Canadian Men’s Junior National Camp.
He has previously trained a top league club in Holland, worked with the Egyptian National Team and most recently, was the assistant coach for the Canadian Men’s Team at the 2010 World Cup in India.
Omar has an extensive amount of experience in training players and looks forward to sharing his knowledge and skill with the FHC Junior Men’s Camp from July 31 to August 15, 2010 in Vancouver…
