JUNIOR IDENTIFICATION CAMPS

WHO is Invited?

  • Canadian Citizens
  • Born in the year 2001, 2002, 2003. 2004 or 2005*
  • Current University Athletes in Canada, NCAA or internationally OR Athletes graduating high school in 2023 and are interested in the opportunity to be selected to Field Hockey Canada Junior Programs.
  • All current FHC Identified Athletes AND New Hopefuls are invited.

*2005 Athletes should prioritize attending their FHBC or FHA provincial trials and will have the opportunity to be evaluated by FHC at that event.  It is not mandatory for 2005 athletes to attend this camp in addition to the Youth ID opportunity, however you are welcome and encouraged to attend if you are able.

YOUTH IDENTIFICATION CAMPS

Eastern Region Youth ID Camp

Registration to this camp is restricted, Athletes will need to be nominated by their PSO or Club in order to receive an invitation to attend and be evaluated at this event.

The Nomination process will happen between FHC and Club and/or PSO organizations during March 2023.

Nominated Athletes will receive an invitation to register directly from Field Hockey Canada.

Athletes at this camp will be evaluated based on the Junior Gold Medal Profile and FHC evaluation metrics.  All athletes interested in FHC NextGen programming should be trying out to play for their provinces.  FHC staff will be in attendance to further evaluate all athletes at National Championships with their provincial teams for the Summer of 2023.  Athlete selection to NextGen will be announced in September 2023 for the 2023/24 training season.

  • Athletes must have been nominated by their club, PSO or be current FHC NextGen Athletes
  • Athletes Born in the year 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009. Some 2010 athletes will be considered if space allows.

Western Regional Youth ID Camps (Provincially Supported)

Field Hockey Canada will be working in partnership with both Field Hockey Alberta, and Field Hockey British Columbia to complete evaluation of youth athletes in the western region for consideration for Women’s NextGen Programming.

There will not be a specific FHC hosted Western Youth Identification camp, rather, all athletes interested in FHC NextGen programming should be trying out to play for their individual provinces.  FHC staff will be in attendance at Provincial Selection Camps and will further evaluate all athletes at National Championships with their provincial teams for the Summer of 2023.  Athlete selection to NextGen will be announced in September 2023 for the 2023/24 training season.

Consistent with other regions, Athletes will be evaluated based on the Junior Gold Medal Profile and FHC evaluation metrics.

FIELD HOCKEY CANADA NATIONALS

All eligible athletes will be further evaluated at Field Hockey Canada National Championships in Brampton, Ontario.

U18 (boys & girls): July 25-July 30

U16 (boys & girls): August 8- August 13

*NOTE: This identification cycle is specific to junior and youth women’s hockey. The women’s cycle begins in the fall and runs year round. The junior and youth men’s cycle begins in January and therefore identification opportunities will take place in the Fall 2023.
