Field Hockey Canada is pleased to announce the results of its 2026 Annual General Meeting, held on September 26, 2026, and to welcome new and returning members to the FHC Board of Directors.
The AGM marked an important step in the continued development of FHC’s governance, with directors elected to support the organization’s strategic direction and the continued growth and development of field hockey across Canada.
Ian Bird was elected as Chair, serving a four-year term as Chair of the Board of Directors.
Bird returns to the Board following a previous term as Athlete Director in 2021–2022. He brings significant experience from his time as a member of the Canadian Men’s National Team, representing Canada at two Olympic Games, as well as his previous experience contributing to FHC governance.
Four directors at large were elected to serve three-year terms, with Angela Bate, Brian Schofield and Alison Campbell joining the FHC Board for the first time and Nick Laxton continuing his service on the Board, having first been elected in 2024. Two further Directors, Emily Rix and Paul Chohan, were elected to serve two-year terms. Emily Rix brings previous experience as a member of the Canadian Women’s National Team and formally served on the FHC Board in 2021–2022.
James Kirkpatrick returns for a second two-year term as Men’s National Team Athlete Director. Completing the Board are Kerry Moynihan and Ronald Prins, who were not up for election during this AGM cycle. The Women’s National Team Athlete Director role remains open.
Field Hockey Canada would like to thank Shanlee Johnston, Halley Chopra, Gurinder Hundal and Nancy Mollenhauer, outgoing directors, for their contribution to FHC governance and to the Canadian field hockey community.
FHC is committed to transparent and effective governance and to ensuring that members remain informed and engaged throughout the year. The materials from the 2026 Annual General Meeting are available through the FHC website, with the draft AGM minutes to be added shortly:
