Field Hockey Canada > Field Hockey Canada announces partnership with Tamanawis Field Hockey Society

Regional partnerships with local fields a necessity for growing the game

If you have ever walked past the Tamanawis field hockey pitches, you know that they are always full. From youth leagues to premier competition and international tournaments, these fields have seen it all. Field Hockey Canada is excited to announce a partnership with the Tamanawis Field Hockey Society (TFHS), focused on development and community growth.

Field Hockey Canada will establish a Regional Training Centre at Tamanawis Park and highlight the region as a home for Canadian field hockey. National team athletes will support local programming by leading training sessions and acting in a coaching capacity. According to Ranbir Kahlon, Director of Communications for TFHS, the organization is thrilled to have a heightened Field Hockey Canada presence at the Tamanawis fields.

This partnership presents a tremendous opportunity towards the growth of field hockey in our community. With national team players here at Tamanawis more often, our youth will be further inspired and strive to reach their aspirations as high-level athletes,” Kahlon said. “The Tamanawis hockey community looks forward towards a new beginning of a long-lasting partnership between Tamanawis Field Hockey Society and Field Hockey Canada.

The greater Vancouver area has long since been a Canadian hub for hockey. Field Hockey Canada is thrilled with its partnership with West Vancouver Field Hockey Club as the “Home of the Women’s and Men’s National Teams.” According to Field Hockey Canada CEO, Susan Ahrens, having access to two world class pitches at Tamanawis will only open up more opportunities for the national senior and junior teams to train, compete and have an impact in the community.

This partnership reflects our strong beliefs that Field Hockey Canada is our community, and our community is Field Hockey Canada. We are committed to working in alignment and partnership with our stakeholders to support the growth and development of the game we all are so passionate about,” Ahrens said. “In this partnership with Tamanawis Field Hockey Society, we build on our partnership with West Vancouver to connect into an engaged group of clubs who operate out of Tamanawis. We are thankful of their support and look forward to working with them to reach our shared objectives.

Please note that this partnership is non-exclusive. TFHS and Field Hockey Canada share the vision of growing the sport through an open approach. As such, FHC will embrace the opportunity for similar partnerships in all communities across the country.
