Field Hockey Canada announces Spring Youth Tours

March 9, 2026 | Field Hockey Canada | fieldhockey.ca

Five youth tours are headed to Europe in the spring

Field Hockey Canada is thrilled to announce the youth tour rosters that will head to Europe this spring. Currently four rosters of youth women are announced. Three U18 teams and a U16 team will travel, train and compete in international matches. A U18 boys team will also be traveling to Frankfurt.

The youth tour initiative, as a part of the larger Field Hockey Canada NextGen programming, began in earnest post-COVID when a few teams traveled to the US and Europe to gain valuable international experience. The program has since blossomed into regularly scheduled U18 and U16 tours abroad every spring. With five tours going out this spring, and the likelihood of sending two more in the summer, 2026 marks the most number of Canadian youth athletes and coaching experiencing international hockey.

Many players that have come through this system have gone on to compete again in the youth environment, for their provincial teams, university teams, and junior national teams. This pipeline is preparing athletes to have more youth and junior international experience prior to making the jump to senior hockey.

More storytelling regarding the pathway, program and people involved in the youth tours and NextGen portfolio will be coming prior to the youth tours going out to Europe. Field Hockey Canada is thrilled to have such a robust youth athlete pool and coaching group working hard to gain valuable international hockey experience.
