Field Hockey Canada is pleased to announce Open University Trials for the U21 and U23 Field Hockey Canada Women’s Next Gen Programs. Athletes identified and selected during the University Camp will be asked to centralize and train through June and July 2022 in either Toronto or Vancouver and will be further considered for selection to National Teams for upcoming competition including selection to U21 Junior World Cup Qualification Events as well as U23 Tours and Competition in 2022/23. EASTERN CAMP: June 9 – 12, 2022; University of Toronto
WESTERN CAMP: June 15-18, 2022; Vancouver BC – Venue TBA
WHAT:
Two on-field Training sessions per day: focus on technical fundamentals, tactical decision making and performance execution. Fitness Testing including Bronco, Repeat Sprint Ability, 40m Sprint, GK Specific Agility Testing.
SELECTION CRITERIA + EXPECTATIONS:
Selection policy and requirements will be announced by May 20th, 2022
Athletes identified and selected during the University Camp will be asked to centralize and train from June 20 to July 22 in either Toronto or Vancouver. The centralized training environment will include a minimum of 6 training sessions per week, 4 technical and 2 coached Strength and Conditioning sessions.
Following this training period, two teams will be selected and those athletes (East and West) will participate in a four-game competition series held in Vancouver. This will be the final selection point for the U21 team + reserves that will continue to train toward the 2023 Junior Pan American Championships in Barbados, in April 2023. And, for a U23 squad that will participate in upcoming U23 events, and work towards integration with the WNT.
COST:
The cost for this camp is $300 which covers staffing, facilities and administrative costs.
Athletes are expected to arrange their own individual travel and accommodation plans.
