Volunteer Coaching Positions for Women’s and Men’s Teams (Ages 035-065)

Field Hockey Canada is seeking coaches for the Women’s and Men’s Canadian Masters Indoor Teams across various age group categories (035-065). These volunteer positions are contingent upon the number of teams and confirmed age group categories for each competition.

Field Hockey Canada, in collaboration with the Canadian Masters Committee and Age Group Coordinators, is responsible for the development, growth, and promotion of field hockey in Canada. Our goal is to deliver high quality performances in the CanAm Series, Pan American and WMH Indoor World Cup competitions.

Program Details:

  • Self-Funded: Athletes selected for the CanAm Series and WMH Indoor World Cup teams will self-fund the program.
  • Covered Costs: Coaches’ national and international airfares, accommodation, and a per diem will be covered by players’ contributions (amounts may be capped).
  • Honorarium: Coaches will receive an honorarium for all practices, events, and tournaments attended.

Coaching Term:

  • Start Date: February 2025
  • End Date: One month after the Indoor World Cup in 2026

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee a systematic, progressive training program for Masters athletes.
  • Collaborate with FHC High Performance Director, other Masters Coaches, and Age Group Coordinators.
  • Team building, selection, preparation, and attendance at training camps, practices, events, and tournaments.
  • Complete a Post-Tournament Report after each major competition.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • High performance coaching experience.
  • Strong leadership abilities and experience working with older athletes.
  • Knowledge of Long-Term Athlete Development.
  • Completed Safe Sport Modules (Making Ethical Decisions, Making Headway, & CAC SafeSport).
  • Critical thinking related to fitness program planning and evaluation.
  • Appropriate coach education and certification (NCCP Competition Development in Training) – See Field Hockey Canada’s resources: https://fieldhockey.ca/coaching/coaching-resources/

Terms and Conditions:

  • Membership in good standing with a member PSO and FHC.
  • Provide a vulnerable sector check (dated within the past 3 years).
  • Complete safe sport training (completed within the past 3 years).
