Field Hockey Canada is excited to introduce Joshua Rey as the organization’s Communications Intern. Rey is a second year Journalism Diploma student at Langara College and will be graduating upon the completion of his internship with Field Hockey Canada.
He is new to the sport of field hockey and he hopes to learn more in his five weeks with the organization. Rey has a background in ice hockey and soccer, primarily, and he hopes his knowledge of these two sports can translate well into field hockey coverage.
“I am very excited for this internship opportunity with Field Hockey Canada,” said Rey. “I can’t wait to get started and learn new communications skills and learn more about the sport.”
Rey has experience covering a variety of sports for the Langara Voice newspaper and has written for The Canuck Way of the Fansided Network and Overtime Heroics. During his time in Langara’s journalism program, Rey has learned valuable reporting, interviewing and storytelling skills, and he hopes to build on those skills at Langara to tell stories at Field Hockey Canada.
Kevin Underhill, the organization’s Communications Manager, is thrilled to bring on more support in the department.
“We have such an incredible community and have so many stories to be told. We’re thrilled to bring on Josh to help tell those stories and promote field hockey from coast-to-coast,” Underhill said. “Of course, during these interesting times, with a lack of events, we’ll have to get creative with where we direct our coverage. Josh’s journalism background will no doubt help us as we dig for community stories and communications initiatives over the next two months.”
Rey’s internship will run until the end of April. Please feel free to reach out to him with story ideas from your community.
