Field Hockey Canada > Join our National Teams on their Pathway to Paris and be Part of the Olympic Dream

Field Hockey Canada Launches Adopt-our-Team Donation Campaigns to support our athletes en route to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games

After an almost two-year hiatus from international competition due to the pandemic, the time has finally arrived for our teams to re-group, reset and re-focus in preparation for the Paris Olympic Games of 2024. Both our men’s and women’s senior national teams have a long road ahead from now until the Olympic Games, with many training camps, exhibition matches, tournaments and qualifiers along the way.

CEO Susan Ahrens said, “Latest FIH rankings show our women ranked thirteenth and our men eleventh in the world. Both are focused forward and upward and we are well-positioned as an organization support our teams towards a hugely successful triennial to Paris. 2022 will be a busy year of international travel and domestic hosting. We continue to work for our national team group and will look forward to watching and supporting our amazing athletes in action on the pathway to Paris.”

All roads lead to the Paris Olympic Games. Our senior national teams are setting their sights on Paris 2024. En-route to the Paris Olympics, both national teams will have a chance to battle at the upcoming Pan American Cup, World Cup, Commonwealth Games, and Pan American Games. Contributing to the programs are our Junior and Indoor streams. Both Junior National Teams are bound for the World Cup this winter and our Women’s Indoor National Team is World Cup bound in February.

Back the Pack & Pack the Bous

With this upcoming travel, both teams must devote not only their time and energy, but also make substantial financial commitments to participate. To support them in their athletic pursuits, Field Hockey Canada in conjunction with the Wolf Pack and the Red Caribou, have created fundraising campaigns to raise proceeds for their program, travel, tournament, and equipment expenses. Over the course of the next year, each team of ambitious athletes aim to raise $100,000, for a grand total of $200,000. For every $10,000 milestone earned, each team will be providing a fun and unique, engagement activity or service to the community, as a token of their appreciation for your support.

Not only are these athletes advocating for themselves and their team, to represent Canada on the international stage, but so are our alumni. This group of past players and Olympians have made a commitment to match every dollar earned, up to each team’s $100,000 goal.

Former Olympian, FHC director, alumni and community leader, Ian Bird believes “The time is now to give back to the community that has served so many. It’s critical that we support our athletes in their international journey. There is an amazing team of athletes, staff and coaches pursuing an international dream. This community is amazing, and I know we can get behind these people.”
