Field Hockey Canada > Managers needed for Canada’s men’s and women’s Masters World Cup teams

With the 2016 Masters World Cup fast approaching, Field Hockey Canada is seeking volunteer Team Managers for the Canadian Men’s and Women’s 50+ teams set to compete in the tournament taking place in Canberra, Australia from March 28th to April 10th next year.

Effective immediately, the appointed volunteer manager will serve as the lead on all logistics for the teams.  This includes serving as the key contact to the team and event organizers.  Previous experience in organizing team sport tours is considered an asset.

Additionally, the managers will travel with the team to Australia and will be responsible for:

  • Planning and managing tournament logistics for Team Canada (scheduling, booking, etc.) leading up to and during competition
  • Communicating with athletes before and during competition
  • Liaising with tournament officials and FHC staff
  • Being the single point of contact for Team Canada with regards to the tournament
  • Other responsibilities as they arise

Skills required:

  • Superior organizational skills and ability to work cooperatively with athletes, staff, and tournament officials
  • Familiarity and prior experience with field hockey is an asset
  • Comfort and familiarity with basic computer programs for information dissemination and program/event management.

The 14-day biennial tournament attracts approximately 60-70 teams and takes place in Canberra, Australia from March 28th to April 10th, 2016.
