Field Hockey Canada (FHC) is excited to announce the appointment of Hailey Yhap as Membership Engagement Coordinator and Grace Li as Marketing and Communications Coordinator. The two join the organization with ample experience in sport management following positions with the Canadian Olympic Committee last year.
Yhap is a Masters of Human Kinetics graduate from the University of Ottawa driven by her passion for sport. As an active athlete, she constantly seeks new ways to help promote, organize, and develop sports while simultaneously providing new outlets for people to maintain healthy lifestyles.
“Having been a player for many years and now coming back to assist with the development of the sport at the membership level is truly exciting,” Yhap said. “I look forward to…making a difference in the Canadian field hockey community.”
The Membership Engagement Coordinator will be critical to increasing FHC’s presence among existing and prospective members and is part of the organization’s goal to grow the sport within Canada and create a centralized platform for all, as CEO Susan Ahrens explains.
“Hailey’s appointment signals an intent to achieve this by first [grasping] who we are and where we are in order to fully understand how we can collectively drive the sport forward together,” Ahrens said.
. . . . .
Li, a recent graduate from Ryerson University, returns to FHC with the hopes to promote active communities while enriching the channels on which people choose to engage. Following a degree with concentrations in global sports and live entertainment management, she anticipates bringing a revitalized perspective to the team.
“I’m thrilled to be back with the organization and to be able to work closely with various stakeholders in the community again,” Li said. “It’s been a long-standing goal of mine to grow field hockey at both national and provincial levels, and this role gives me the opportunity to do just that and more.”
In light of current circumstances, Li will focus her efforts on engaging the online population through meaningful and targeted campaigns and bringing people together in virtual settings. Communications Manager Kevin Underhill said he looks forward to having Li on board this fall.
“Grace fits in well with our team. She has a team-first attitude and comes with community experience from her time with us in 2018,” said Underhill. “She’s already plugged into the community and brings a unique communications and marketing skillset that will help push Field Hockey Canada forward.”
Ahrens added, “In Grace and Hailey we have two highly competent young professionals who are energizing our work in some of our key priority projects, including membership engagement, sponsorship and marketing.”
These positions are made possible in large part thanks to the Government of Canada’s Summer Job program. Given the current circumstances in regard to the COVID-19 pandemic, the CSJ program has more flexibility with its terms. We have extended these job opportunities into the fall. Thank you to CSJ for their support of NSOs during this unprecedented time.
