The Pan American Hockey Federation (PAHF) has announced the draws for the 2017 Pan American Cups to be held in Lancaster, United States this August.
This year’s Pan American Cups serve as 2018 World Cup qualifiers, with the winner of both the men’s and women’s tournaments earning a spot at their respective World Cups the following year.
The tournament format sees the top two teams of each pool moving on to the semifinals. The top six finishers in the tournament earn a spot in the 2021 Pan American Cup.
On the men’s side, Canada – currently ranked 11th in the world – is grouped in Pool B with Brazil (25th), Mexico (40th), and Trinidad and Tobago (33rd). The Canadian men open the tournament on August 4th against Trinidad and Tobago, and close out pool play with games against Brazil and Mexico on August 6th and 8th respectively.

On the women’s side, Canada – currently ranked 18th in the world – is grouped in Pool B with the Brazil (41st), Mexico (30th), and the United States (6th). The Canadian women open the tournament on August 5th against Brazil, and close out pool play with matches against the United States and Mexico on August 7th and 9th respectively.
