Staff Announcement: Libby Riedl hired as Summer Events Coordinator

Field Hockey Canada is excited to introduce Libby Riedl as the organization’s new summer Events Coordinator. Riedl is a University of Maine graduate, where she studied Economics and competed in division 1 field hockey for four years. Riedl collected many awards for her performance as a student-athlete and is looking forward to the opportunity to work on the administrative side of athletic events.

“I am super excited to join Field Hockey Canada this summer” she said. “I knew I wanted to continue working close to athletics and having the opportunity to assist with events that promote and help grow the sport I love is awesome.”

Working alongside Field Hockey Canada staff and a variety of key partners, Riedl will focus much of her energy on the upcoming national championships, national team events as well as fundraising and social activities.

Riedl added, “Field Hockey will always remain a big part of my life, and I am looking forward to seeing the sport grow and be shared with the community.”

Communications Manager, Kevin Underhill said he expects Riedl to fit into the Field Hockey Canada team seamlessly and contribute to the successful event support during the summer.

“Libby is already connected in the Canadian field hockey community,” he said. “This makes her a natural fit to support the growth and development of the game. This summer is going to be action-packed with events and tournaments and Libby will no doubt be a great addition to Field Hockey Canada team.”

At the end of her term with Field Hockey Canada, Riedl will be heading to Mercyhurst University in Pennsylvania to coach the field hockey program there and start her Master’s Degree in Applied Intelligence.

This appointment was made possible largely thanks to the Government of Canada’s Canadian Summer Jobs program. Field Hockey Canada thanks their funding partners for making programs like this a reality.
