Field Hockey Canada (FHC), the National Sport Organization for Field Hockey in Canada, is seeking experienced coaches for the U16 and U18 Men’s and Women’s National Teams. FHC’s purpose is to foster the growth and pursuit of excellence in field hockey and to position the National Teams for consistent podium contention, while adhering to core values such as Integrity, Fun, Teamwork, Accountability, Respect, and Transparency.

Available Positions:

 U18 Women’s National Indoor Team:

  • U18 Women’s National Indoor Team Assistant Coach
  • U18 Women’s National Indoor Team Manager

U18 Men’s National Indoor Team:

  • U18 Men’s National Indoor Team Coach
  • U18 Men’s National Indoor Team Assistant Coach
  • U18 Men’s National Indoor Team Manager

Nature of the Agreement:

These positions are part-time and involve limited contractual agreements for coaching services. The U18 Programs are overseen by Field Hockey Canada’s High-Performance Leadership Team, which includes the High-Performance Director, Operations Manager, NextGen Director, and Pathway Manager.

Terms:

U18 Women’s and Men’s National Indoor Team:

This 2 years contract will be from December 2023 – November 2025 and will cover the following:

  • Pre-tour preparation, including athlete ID, selection, 1:1 meeting with each athlete, performance planning, and development of technical/tactical principles in line with FHC style of play.
  • Responsible for coordinating U18 athlete evaluations and distributing mid-point athlete feedback reports the end of each tour.
  • Participation in Indoor International tour.
    • Camp in Philadelphia (February 25-29, 2024)
    • Big Apple Tournament in Philadelphia (March 1-3, 2024)
    • Plans for 2025 are yet to be confirmed.
  • Tour debriefs report to FHC.
  • Athlete Evaluation using FHC gap analysis and formal Athlete Feedback Reports.
  • Talent ID and ongoing monitoring of U18 Athletes through NextGen training.

Both Coach and Assistant Coach will be expected to participate in program debriefing processes and report on the successes and opportunities after each event.

Continuation of these contracts is subject to a positive performance review after concluding the above elements.

Location:

2024

  • A pre-camp scheduled from February 24th to February 29th in Philadelphia, followed by participation in the Big Apple Tournament taking place in Philadelphia from March 1st to March 3rd, 2024.

2025

  • Plans for 2025 are yet to be confirmed. 

Qualifications:

All coaches applying to provide their services in these areas must have the following:

  • Completion of all mandatory SafeSport modules and current criminal records check.
  • NCCP Competitive-Development Multisport Trained or show recent progress and commitment toward achieving trained status.
  • Possession of a current passport and ability to travel internationally.
