It was a BC Blue day today as both the Men’s and Women’s BC Blue teams earned bragging rights at the 2011 Senior National tournament. Earlier in the day, the Ontario Red women defeated the BC White women for the bronze. That 2-1 win came off a series of shots and a bit of chaos in front of the BC White net but nonetheless, sealed the deal in the first over-time. The Bronze medal match for the men also went to over-time with the Canadian Junior boys defeating the BC White men’s team 1-0…

The early game went to Ontario men who played the Canadian Junior Boys and earned 3 points to put them first in their pool with 12 points. Ontario won 5-3 but it was the Canadian Juniors who were on the board first, in the 2nd minute. A field goal from Stephen Bissett put the Juniors up 1-0 but in the 7th minute Wayne Fernandes converted on a penalty corner to start the ball rolling for Ontario. Nathan Froese and Nick Hignell each pocketed a goal for Ontario but Matthew Sarmento and David Loy each managed to score for the juniors to bring the game to 3-3…

Canada Day kicked off with Day three of the Senior National Tournament being held in Victoria, BC. The first day of the game saw Pool A round robin continue and PEI take a 4-2 win over the BC U18 White team. Two goals and player of the game honours were given to PEI’s Erin Mason. Lauren Taylor was awarded the player of the game honours for BC U18 White. Pool A matches continued for game #17 of the tournament and with Ontario White earning their first 3 points of the tournament with a 2-1 win over BC Senior White team…

The second day of the FHC Senior National Championships consisted of eight back to back games beginning at 8:00am with Alberta Men taking on the Canadian Junior National team. This was the first opportunity to spectators to see the Canadian Junior men in action and they delivered a convincing 2-0 win over Alberta men. The first day of the Senior National Championships is over
and all the women’s teams and two of the men’s teams have gotten game one off
their backs. The Pool A women started out the day with the early games. The BC
Blue women, comprised majorly of Senior national team members and coached by
Kimo Linders, earned a 16-0 win over Ontario White, coached by Jeff Pacheco.
