Canada took the lead of their triple confrontation with Chile and Trinidad & Tobago, in Vancouver, with a 2-0 win over Chile.

The two Canadian teams (the National Team and the Development “A” Team) played each other in the 4 Nation Classic in Vancouver in a spirited contest much closer that could be anticipated.

4 Nation Classic: July 15
The opening day of the 4 Nation Classic was full of world-class field hockey and a visit by the Minister of State (Sport), the Hon. Bal Gosal. The first match of the tournament was between Canada A Women and Chile, which ended in a 4 – 2 victory for Chile. Following the Minister’s speech, Team Canada Women faced T & T and came away with a 6 – 0 win. The final event of the day was an exciting men’s match between Team Canada and T & T. The 4 Nation Classic began yesterday as Canada’s development team, Canada A, played Chile at 2:00pm for the first match. Despite the gloomy forecasts, the rainy weather held off for what would be a perfect afternoon for field hockey.
Hon. Bal Gosal meets Team Canada
The 4 Nation Classic was very pleased to host the Hon. Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), on Friday, July 15. He had the opportunity to meet Team Canada and watch the women’s match between Canada and Trinidad & Tobago. The Canadian Women opened the 4 Nation Classic competition in Vancouver with a decisive win over Trinidad & Tobago, a team they will face in pool play at the upcoming Pan American Games in Guadalajara.
