Targeted areas for funding include promotion and development of field hockey skills, coaching for senior and junior men’s teams in Canada, training facilities, equipment and general participation.
With an 8-5 defeat of the USA in the semi-final of the Pan American Youth Championships (Men), Canada has secured a spot at the Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China this coming August 2014!
The Canadian Men’s team competing in the Pan American Youth Championships have booked their ticket directly to the semi-finals with a 6-5 win over the United States. After five games over three days, Canada (4W – 1L) has amassed 55 goals in securing second overall in the pool standings.
Zoe MacKinnon passed away in her 55th year. Zoe was a respected international goalkeeper who backstopped the Canadian Women’s National team in the 1980s, most notably as a member of the historic 1984 Canadian team that finished 5th at the Games in Los Angeles.
In recognition of their hard work and determination, Field Hockey Canada recently presented several of the national program athletes with special honours. The celebration brought together players and staff from the men’s and women’s national programs to acknowledge their outstanding achievements throughout the past year.
