Field Hockey Canada would like to thank Yan Huckendubler for his outstanding work and support to FHC both leading up to and during the Commonwealth Games. Yan was named as the media attaché for Canadian field hockey (as well as archery, boxing, and table tennis) by Commonwealth Games Canada. Scott Sandison Retires From Men’s National Team
October 27, 2010
With the retirement of Scott Sandison from competitive play, the Men’s Senior National Team has lost a veteran defender. Our loss, however, is Old Loughtonias’ gain as Scott will use his talent and experience to help shape the next generation of players, coaching for his former club in London. “We can only hope he will soon be back in Canada sharing his commitment, passion and pride with players across this country,” says former teammate Rob Short…
Rob Short Looks Back On 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games
October 15, 2010
The New Zealand vs Canada match was a classic. A true battle which ended in a tie 1-1 which was enough for New Zealand but not enough for us. Today walking to the breakfast hall our team got caught walking behind the New Zealanders on route to their semi-final match, barely a word was spoke over this mornings somber breakfast hour. Many of you watched the game at home so I won’t bore you will all the details. For those who didn’t get a chance to see it, we were up 1-0 (goal from Gabbar in the 1st half) until the 67th minute when we gave up a corner goal which was scored by Hayden Shaw, their penatly corner specialist…

Canadian women’s hockey team finishes 6th in Commonwealth Games
The classification game (5th-6th place) between the Canadian women’s field hockey team and India opened in the blazing mid-day heat and in a warm atmosphere. Although the venue was not as packed as the night before for the formidable men’s game between India and Pakistan (7-4!), those present were shouting loudly each time an Indian player had the ball…
Men’s hockey team two minutes away from semi-final
October 10, 2010
The Canadian men’s field hockey team were only caught up by powerhouse New Zealand in the last two minutes of play (1-1), losing on the wire a semi-final berth.
The situation was clear before this last match of pool B: a Canadian win would push them through to the semi-finals on Tuesday; any other result would leave them in 4th place in their pool. Despite what was at stakes, the Canadian boys were not impressed by the reputation of their opponents, known as the “Black Sticks”, and weathered calmly their initial pressure, getting forward with some incisive counter-attacks…
