After winning the Pan American Championships, Field Hockey Canada announces the Junior World Cup roster bound for South Africa
Field Hockey Canada is thrilled to announce the Junior Women’s National Team roster set to compete at the Junior World Cup in December. The Junior World Cup will take place in Potchefstroom, South Africa from December 5-16, 2021.
Team Canada is coming off an all-time high, winning the Junior Pan American Championships in August and qualified as the top team from the Pan Americas. They join Pan Am counterparts in Argentina, USA and Uruguay. Canada even has a date with familiar foe. Uruguay to open their preliminary rounds.
Team Canada returns 12 players from their Pan Am Gold medal team. Anyone born in 1999 or later was eligible to compete in the Junior Pan American Cup but only those born in 2000 or later are eligible to compete in the Junior World Cup. Several key contributors from the Pan American Championships have aged-out but Head Coach Patrick Tshutshani has added a set of new faces that bring depth and skill in the roster.
The team plans to arrive in South Africa in advance of the tournament. Stay tuned to Field Hockey Canada’s social media and website for more information in the lead up to the Women’s and Men’s Junior World Cup.
