Field Hockey Canada looks ahead to 2025 Competition Schedule 

Another packed year of hockey awaits 

As we step into the new year, we are thrilled to share the exciting tournaments and initiatives that await us in 2025.  

This year promises to be a landmark season for our Junior National Teams, with two major international competitions awaiting our junior men and junior women. This includes their first-ever appearance at the Junior Pan American Games this summer in Paraguay. 2025 marks the second iteration of the Junior Pan Am Games and the first inclusion of hockey in the Games. Field Hockey Canada is excited that our young stars will be able to perform and enjoy the unique experience of a multi-sport event.

Following a successful Junior Pan American Championships on home soil in Surrey last year, our junior teams have qualified for the 2025 FIH Junior World Cups. Those tournaments are set to take place in India (men) and Chile (women) in November/December.  

For our Senior National Teams, they are gearing up for an exciting chase for World Cup qualification this year. The Women’s National Team kicks off their campaign in February with their participation in the 2025 FIH Nations Cup in Santiago. Both the Men’s National Team and the Women’s Team will then challenge for World Cup qualification at the 2025 Pan American Cup in Uruguay. Canada is looking to make history; the last time both the women’s and men’s teams qualified for the World Cup in the same cycle was in 1986— not since unification of both associations into one Field Hockey Canada governing body.

Pan American Championships is also the focus of this year’s masters program. Following last year’s highly successful World Cups in New Zealand, our Masters teams are now refocusing on the WMH Pan American Championships in September in Paraguay, aiming to build on their considerable achievements from last year.

This year will also see the continuation of the system build. Youth tours remain an integral part of the Field Hockey Canada developmental and NextGen system. This year’s youth calendar is busier than ever including three women’s tours to Europe this spring. A U16 Team will travel to Czechia and two U18 teams will travel to France and Wales respectively. For the boys, they will build off last year’s U17 men’s tour in Malaysia, with Field Hockey Canada’s youth boys again be participating in the Mirnawan Cup in the fall of 2025. 

Domestically, our calendar is packed with a growing roster of events to serve all sectors of our community. These include the Hall of Fame ceremony, National Championships at youth, university, and master levels, and exciting international hosting and national competitions, including the Can-Am Indoor Series this spring.
