Sultan Azlan Shah Cup Roster Announcement

Field Hockey Canada announces 18-player roster for Azlan Shah

Field Hockey Canada is excited to announce the 18-man roster for the upcoming Sultan Azlan Shah Cup hockey tournament held annually in Ipoh, Malaysia.

Team Canada (19) will contend with an excellent field including Australia (3), Pakistan (12), Malysia (13), Korea (22), and USA (26). Canada enters the 2026 edition looking to build on a promising 2025 Azlan Shah, where the Red Caribou finished fifth, earned victories over Korea, and an impressive draw against eventual champions Belgium. In the summer, Canada earned a three-game series win against USA on home soil in Surrey, BC.

The Sultan Azlan Shah cup provides a great opportunity to play against varying styles of play as the team approaches a 2027 that will be full of competition leading into the 2027 Pan American Games in Lima in the summer.

Four players will receive their 50th cap during this tournament. Sam Cabral, Thomson Harris, Manveer Jhamat and Harbir Sidhu will all cross the 50-cap threshold this week in Ipoh. All four represent a generation of players in their mid-late 20s that make up the core of the national team. In other cap news, Satpreet Dhadda will get his first international cap, after an impressive junior national team career.

The men’s national team will be centralizing for an open camp in Vancouver from November 10-13. This camp dually serves as a reset point each year for the squad and begins preparation for the 2026-2027 season, while also preparing the Azlan Shah squad with some reps before take-off. Team Canada departs on November 14, with their opening match against Pakistan kicking off on November 20. Details regarding how to follow, live stream and support team Canada will come out during the next two weeks.
