Start date of U16 Nationals moved back

Due to the limited field the first matches of the 2010 FHC U16 National Championship tournaments will be played the morning of Wednesday, July 21st. Teams are expected to arrive by Tuesday, July 20th at the latest. Practices times will be available on Tuesday for teams. The final match will be played at 12:00 (noon) on Sunday, July 25th, followed immediately by a brief closing ceremony.

Men’s National Indoor Program to hold camp in Toronto

Field Hockey Canada will hold a national identification camp May 8th and 9th in Toronto for the Men’s Canada National Indoor Pan American Cup team.
This is an open identification camp open to all players that meet the eligibility criteria. Details for the identification camp are provided below. The purpose of the camp is to identify a squad of players that will train towards the goal of making the Canadian National Indoor Team that will participate in the Indoor World Cup Qualifier in Venezuela in August of this year…

Game 1 : Red vs Pink (2-1)
The 2010 Super league kicked off this weekend with the first game of the series on Friday night. Game 1 saw coach Nick Sandhu’s pink team face off with Aaron Guest’s red team, with red prevailing 2-1.
The first half saw the red team with more possession and attack with several penalty corners. The pink team had some solid organization in the backfield led by Anna Kozniuk and UBC alumni Sarah Saddler…
Baker named Sport PEI Female Athlete of the Year

Katie Baker, of Argyle Shore, Prince Edward Island, was named Senior Female Athlete of the Year Wednesday evening at the annual Sport P.E.I. awards in Charlottetown.
Katie is a member of the Canadian national field hockey team having competed for Canada in events such as the 2005 Junior Women’s World Cup, 2007 Pan American Games, 2008 Olympic Qualifier, and 2010 World Cup Qualifier.
The other award finalists were Megan Bryanton (powerlifting) and Susan Sobey (athletics).
FHC announces first ever Women’s Super League
