After their first two matches at the FIH Champions Challenge I in Argentina, Canada is looking for their first victory. On Tuesday, Canada will take on Malaysia – currently undefeated and sitting atop Pool A.
Canada’s first match of the 2012 Champions Challenge I is against Korea at 10:00am local time in Quilmes, Argentina. Our “youthful, talented and extremely fit group” is ready to compete. We caught up with several athletes and Head Coach Anthony Farry to see how things are going.

The Men’s Junior National Team will compete in a four match test series against the USA’s Junior National Squad in Moorpark, California. This will be Canada’s first competition since their silver finish at the Pan American Junior Championship in September.
Following a 1 – 0 victory over Uruguay to secure a first place finish, Hannah Haughn was named tournament MVP, Kaitlyn Williams was voted Best Goalkeeper and Brienne Stairs and Caashia Karringten tied for top goal scorers in the tournament.
The Women’s National Team defeated Trinidad & Tobago 4 – 0 in their second to last match of the 2012 FIH World League Round 1 in Port of Spain. With this victory, Canada is guaranteed a top two finish and will advance to the FIH World League Round 2 in 2013!
Having scored 33 goals and posting three shutouts, Canada is currently tied for first in the tournament with Uruguay who have scored 15 goals. The teams are followed by Trinidad & Tobago, Venezuela, Guyana and Barbados in the round robin tournament.
On Sunday, Thunderbird field hockey athletes, alumni and supporters gathered at the University of British Columbia to commemorate Remembrance Day and participate in the Men’s Annual Remembrance Day Alumni Game.
