Field Hockey Canada > Women’s National Team Roster for 2025 FIH Nations Cup

Canadian Wolfpack Ready for Nations Cup in Santiago

Field Hockey Canada is excited to announce the roster for the Women’s National Team that will compete in the 2025 FIH Nations Cup in Santiago, Chile, from February 23 to March 2. This marks the third iteration of the FIH Nations Cup, and Canada is looking to build on their 6th place finish from the 2024 tournament in Spain.

Canada finds itself in a strong and exciting pool, with USA, Chile, and Japan. Canada’s pool is familiar, with the Wolfpack facing Japan twice and Chile at the previous Nations Cup, while USA and Chile both serve as Pan Am rivals. The tournament format sees the top two teams from each pool advancing to the semifinals, while the bottom teams will play in placement matches. The winner of the tournament will earn a spot in the FIH Pro League, while the lower-ranked teams face potential relegation to the new Nations Cup 2 tournament. Head coach, Sheldon Rostron embarks on his second year as bench-boss. He said that the Nations Cup is the perfect grounds for high level competition and preparation for the Pan American Cup.

“Nations Cup is an important performance event for us. World Cup qualification is a matter of building momentum, confidence and successes week in and out, this event is a measure of what needs to be put in consistently and we will learn where we have or have not had success,” Rostron said. “We have been very specific over the past months working on elements to elevate our style of play. Progress has been made, and this event is the perfect opportunity to make new growth and learnings as well as execute. The more we play, the more we play together and the more we execute our plans on the field, the more this team will grow.”

The Canadian roster features a blend of seasoned veterans and promising young talent. Key veterans include Natalie Sourisseau, Karli Johansen, Kat Leahy, and goalkeeper Rowan Harris, all of whom bring extensive experience from multi-sport games, the 2022 World Cup, and other major tournaments over the last decade.

Among the younger players, Anna Mollenhauer stands out. She is still young but has been consistently touring with the Wolfpack since 2020 and already amassed significant experience. She is joined by Thora Rae, Sara Goodman, Audrey Sawers, who form the young core of the team. Making her senior international debut will be Vancouver’s Allison Kuzyk, while recent graduates from the junior program, Brooke McCusker and Mikayla Stelling will be participating in their second top-level senior tournament.

We have a team that is flexible, multi-faceted and deep, and will maintain a high level and quality of style and performance that strive for. The coach’s job is to help mold the athletes, upskill them in areas that will enhance their skill and talent through design, a purpose and place. I am confident in the roster which has remained consistent with names synonymous to the team and remain critical leaders for those to follow,” Rostron said.

Rostron is optimistic about the squad’s prospects. He believes the 2025 season holds great promise for the Canadian Wolfpack, with the FIH Nations Cup serving as an excellent primer for the 2025 PAHF Pan American Cup in July, which will act as a qualifier for the 2026 FIH World Cup.

“Our intention is to perform well at Nations Cup, present our elements that we have trained, then refine and build to Pan Ams. We are process driven and we have a clear intent for 2025 that will be measured and tested consistently ensuring our focus remains on qualification for the World Cup and consistently entering major events and progressing in every event that we play.”
