Canada came at Chile very quickly in the opening half of Game 1 at the Prince of Wales Country Club in Santiago, Chile. Forward and Ontario native, Kate Gillis put Canada on the board after picking up a loose rebound off one of Canada’s first short corners. The ball was struck in by captain Katie Baker and Gillis picked up the ball and put it into the net with great composure. Day 4 : Chile TourThe women’s national team has been down in Santiago for just over 3 days now and what may seem like almost 2 weeks. The team has been busy putting in double-duty on the pitch or at least a work out and practice each day.  Training Update from Chile  Thursday, March 31st, 2011 The Women’s National field hockey team successfully landed in Santiago, Chile yesterday after a long flight down via Toronto. In Toronto, the team met up with team manager, Katie Henhawk, a previous Junior National Field Hockey team member and current Assistant Director of Athletics at Appleby College in Ontario. Day 7:

This morning was the earliest yet as our jog and stretch was scheduled for 6:10am.  When we stepped outside, we were alarmed to see that it was still dark out, but continued on our routine warm up. After this we had some breakfast then prepared for our final game against the Americans. 

 

Upon arrival at the field we warmed up then were ready to play! However, this game was not like the others; the Americans were pressuring constantly and it was evident that this was going to be a ver ycompetitive game…
