L’équipe a pris l’avion le 20 janvier 2018 pour une tournée d’entraînement de deux semaines ponctuée par un tournoi de cinq nations à Malaga en Espagne, suivi par un retour le 5 février 2018.

L’année 2018 s’annonce chargée pour l’Équipe nationale masculine avec les Jeux du Commonwealth au printemps, la Coupe du Monde en décembre et les qualifications olympiques qui suivront. Avec cela en tête, le niveau d’urgence et de compétitivité a grimpé d’un cran lors du séjour en Espagne alors que l’équipe disputait ses premiers matchs internationaux en plus de six mois.

En quête de temps chaud et d’expérience de compétition international, l’ÉNF s’est envolée pour l’hémisphère Sud pour en janvier pour une tournée d’entraînement au Chili. L’équipe a pris la direction de Santiago le 17 janvier pour rentrer au pays le 30 janvier.

Le personnel d’entraîneurs a retenu 20 athlètes pour cette tournée. Le groupe comprend plusieurs joueuses qui ont participé à la Coupe panaméricaine en 2017. L’équipe aura un court répit à son retour avant de prendre la direction de San Diego pour une autre tournée d’entraînement en préparation pour le tournoi des Jeux du Commonwealth, qui se déroulera dans le Queensland en Australie au mois d’avril.

The team departs January 20, 2018 for a two-week training tour and five-nations tournament in Malaga, Spain and will return on February 5, 2018.

2018 is shaping up to be a huge year for the Men’s National Team with Commonwealth Games this spring, the World Cup in December and Olympic qualifiers on the horizon as well. With that in mind, the urgency and competitiveness has already picked up and will no doubt carry forward into Malaga as the team prepares for their first international match in over six months.

In search of warm weather and international competition experience, the WNT will head south to Chile in January for a two-week training tour. The team will depart for Santiago on January 17, 2018 and return on January 30, 2018.

The coaching staff has selected 20 athletes for the tour. The team, top-to-bottom, reflects a similar group that closed out last season’s Pan American Cup with a few roster changes. The team will have a short turnaround before heading out to San Diego for their second training tour leading up to the Commonwealth Games, taking place in Qeensland, Australia in April.
