The 2023 FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup is taking place in Santiago, Chile. The 16 teams from around the world will all be vying for the coveted championship title between November 29 and December 10 on the new fields of Santiago’s National Stadium.

The FIH is currently offering the FIH+ Pass, which gives you access to all Junior World Cup matches for the men’s and women’s tournament as well as all men’s and women’s Olympic Qualifiers. The 16 teams from around the world will all be vying for the coveted championship title from 4th to 16th of December 2023 at the National Hockey Stadium Bukit Jalil, which will be the competition venue for this championship. Keynote Speaker Minister Lumsden – U16 Opening Ceremonies

Field Hockey Canada is excited to welcome Minister Neil Lumsden as the Keynote speaker at the U16 opening ceremonies at Cassie Campbell Community Center in Brampton, Ontario at 6:30pm EST on August 8. Neil Lumsden was elected as the Member of Provincial Parliament for Hamilton East-Stoney Creek in 2022 and appointed as the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport.  

Minister Lumsden has experience playing Varsity football at University of Ottawa as well as professional experience with the Edmonton Elks in the Canadian Football League. In addition, Minister Lumsden served as General Manager of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, and Chief Operating Officer of the 2003 World Road Cycling Championships, hosted by Hamilton.  

“Our government recognizes the important impact that events like Field Hockey Canada’s National Championships have on local communities and the development of our high-performance athletes, coaches and officials,” said Neil Lumsden, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport. 

“Together, the U-16 and U-18 championship events will leave a lasting legacy for the sport as well as for the City of Brampton. I wish all participants the very best of luck.”

RELATED – Women’s Tournament (JPAC)

The Rohrmax Cup is an international indoor hockey tournament taking place in Vienna, Austria. The Canadian Women’s National Team is competing at the Rohrmax Cup in preparation for their upcoming trip to the Indoor World Cup in February in South Africa. Follow the Rohrmax cup on the Austrian Hockey Federation website and keep up to date by following the scores below and on Field Hockey Canada’s social media. Canada starts the tournament in Pool B with club teams RW Wettingen and SV Arminen as well as the U21 Austrian National Team. Austria, Belgium, Indonesia and the Swiss U21 Team make up the other pool.

Pool play takes place on January 5th – 7th with the top two finishers in each pool advancing to a semifinal — also taking place on the 7th. All classification matches and the medal rounds take place on January 8th.

The team will be training and playing test matches against the Mexican National Team as well as some Club Teams in Mexicali, Mexico. This tour serves as a primary test series for the team to prepare for the upcoming 2023 Junior Pan American Championships.

The 2023 FIH Indoor World Cup will take place in Pretoria, South Africa on February 4 – February 11, 2023. The competition will take place at the Heartfelt Arena in Pretoria. The inaugural Indoor World Cup was held in 2003. Since then, the tournament has been held every four years. The tournament was postponed due to the COVID pandemic. Canada’s Indoor Women’s National Team has attended the Indoor World Cup twice, finishing ninth in 2007 and 10th in 2015. Team Canada qualified by way of the 2021 Indoor Pan American Championships.
